Wings, tenders, rolls & mashed potatoes are great!!!! Wish they had fries... lines are long but they move fairly quickly!!!
Best livers in Midwest !! And the chicken is the best I've eaten in a long time I travel for a living and KC is home this is what I go to get the first night I'm home from the road !!! Was driving Earth Wind and Fire on tour when they asked me what was good to eat around here ! I didn't hesitate for chicken no doubt go chicken go !! Bbq Q39 Burgers easy sauced!! After show, food was go chicken go Q39 and sauced variety is good in your life !
No frills fast food. Really tasty fried chicken. If you're ever in the Kansas City/metro area give it a try. They also fry gizzards and chicken liver... if you're so inclined.
I usually only come for the gizzards, and I've been eating these since I was a little girl. They are delicious, especially with the buttery dinner roll. I can't say much about going in, but if you have ATLEAST an hour to wait in the drive thru line that goes into the Main Street (Troost), then you may have to come back on a random weekday at 12pm because the line is crazy. However, when you reach the speaker to place your order, the staff is kind and you usually get your food shortly after you order. It's not your typical aesthetic place, it's more of a hole in the wall.
Fried chicken heaven. Take my word. :) A local favorite that should be on your short list of non Barbecue food spots in the city. I recommend the wings and the fried gizzards. Multiple locations across the city. Both on the Missouri and Kansas sides of the state line. The location on Troost is my favorite with both walk in and drive through available. The G-sauce has a unique kick. So don't forget to give it a try. I like to dip the gizzards it it and I've seen people do the same with the chicken. Enjoy.
Woooooooo!!! So since I been making this trip to kc, this place has been in my list and thought it was wayyyyyyyyyyy away from the airport, my Uber driver, had no problem making the pit stop. Let's just start with the building. Next to the hospital so I'm sure this place is busy! The drive thru on a Monday was outside the parking lot! So that was a sign to me this place was worth it and MANNNNNN KC did it again boy! This nicely battered chicken with just the right touch of seasoning to my 3 piece dinner meal. I wish I could have tried everything. The food was good I could have fallen asleep again from a food coma.
After we hit the gym and got coffee, we headed over to Go Chicken go for some strips and gizzards. I have been to this location several times and the chicken never disappoints. They have a drive thru that stays busy most times of the day. I would recommend going inside to grab your food as it seems to be quicker. Great options whether you want a full meal, sides or just something small. The chicken strips are super fresh and juice. The g-sauce is a must try. A Kc chicken staple you have to try!
Can't go wrong here for the yummiest gizzards. I like this place just for that. Livers are okay, not my favorite, but gizzards are fire. Everytime we come here, it's always a line. Sometimes it's best to park and go inside and order. It's a good fast food place, just not for everyday. Don't forget the G sauce. It's a must. I have no tried their chicken, so I got to do that next time.
I only eat the gizzards here, and it has never done me wrong! Go ahead and get you some extra G-Sauce because it is addictive and every piece of meat needs some love. Now, will you be in a long line? ... most likely. Is it the most professional establishment ? ... no. BUT if you want some good seasoned fried gizzards then this is your place.
